tea and books... warmth and decisions

This is the season of warmth. Hand warmers knit from the softest alpaca and silk blend... pumpkin spiced tea in smooth mugs... fleece blankets piled high on laps. One would think it would be the season for knitting. But instead, I am reading. I cannot stop picking up books... and now I am staring at a stack of books, all with bookmarks and dogeared pages, and I want to read each and every one at the same time.

And so, I read at every chance I get. My toughest decision is which book to pick up, and which type of tea to accompany the pages...

Because I always like to hear what others are reading, below are the books I have stacked next to me at this very moment:

This I Know - by Susannah Conway
Project-Based Homeschooling - by Lori Pickert
New and Selected Poems, Volume One - by Mary Oliver
On Writing - by Stephen King
Daring Greatly - by Brene Brown

What are you reading these days?
Where are you finding warmth?

  1. Me too! I have at least four different books going right now. Three of your books are on my "to read" list. I'm feeling very introverted lately...I don't know why, but I'm enjoying it. :)

  3. Oh, I can't wait to read Stephen King's "On Writing!" It must be something in the air, because I have this bug too! I just ordered something like 15 books at my library and will be able to pick them up on Thursday. Half of them are for our Moon Journal project, the other half are on writing. Teaching and writing are now my two favorite subjects to read about.

I am going to write down your list and keep it handy for the next "bug" hits.

  7. I know just what you mean. These beautiful fall days have me longing to curl up on the couch with a good book. I just finished Wild by Cheryl Strayed and really enjoyed it; I think you would too. On Writing is one of my favorite books on writing; I also loved learning about Stephen King's life and how he shaped his writing career around his family life and his personal struggles.

Enjoy your pumpkin tea, my friend. xo

  8. "On Writing" is definitely on my TBR list. Right now, I'm reading JK Rowling's new book "The Casual Vacancy," accompanied by Earl Grey. I'm also making my way through "Guns, Germs, and Steel."

  10. Oh, I loved 'On Writing'! It's so much fun!

As for me, I've been reading a biography called "The Black Count". It's not my usual genre, but I'm really enjoying this one!

  11. I'm reading a massive biography on Bonhoeffer, a book about homeschooling called "The Core" and my novel is "September" by Rosamunde Pilcher, which I'm greatly enjoying. Her writing is perfect to cosy up to on a fall day with tea, of course!
