The picture above and the song below illustrate the pure joy and contentedness in my heart today. And accepting that, without questioning or trying to downplay, is my bigger picture moment.
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come 'round right

The children were taught to sing that at Elliot's Quaker preschool. As I read it, I could hear their sweet voices. What a beautiful occurrence to be light of heart and joyful in simplicity!
ReplyDeleteOh such a gift to accept the moment, as is...
ReplyDeleteI defy anyone to look at that face and not feel better about the world. Look how the light bounces off those cheeks!
ReplyDeleteAnd i have always secretly felt Tis a Gift is my personal theme song. It is my hymn of thanksgiving to God for putting me in exactly the place that I was meant to be.
Love this!
The picture and the song ... such a gorgeous duo to express the peace and quiet joy spilling over your heart, Corinne. I've never heard that song before ... checking it out.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite hymns. We sang it at my grandmother's funeral because it was her favorite, too. xox
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite hymns. really and truly. it's the song i find myself singing when the house is quiet and i'm cleaning or when i'm hanging laundry on the line, watering the garden. cannot tell you how much i love that you've included it in this post, so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteand your girl. that look on her face, those cheeks...precious!
